Community Forum Rescheduled to April 20

Dear Flint Families,

The community forum originally schedule for March 23 has been rescheduled to April 20.

With nearly $100 million in ESSER funding available to Flint Community Schools to support the academic, social and emotional growth of our scholars, it is an exciting time to be a part of the district. Our school community is key to our success, and Flint Community Schools wants to ensure that the scholars, families, teachers and staff that we serve all have a voice when it comes to the future of our district and how we utilize this once-in-lifetime funding so that our scholars reach their full potential.

In order to continue engaging in meaningful conversations with the community, we have announced quarterly community forum meetings, which will begin on Thursday, September 29 and conclude in June 2023. The community forum meetings will be used to discuss the district’s vision and strategic plan, review the focus goals for the 2022-23 school year and provide updates on renovations and ESSER III funds.

The community forums are a part of a long-term commitment to working alongside our school community. All forums are open to the public, with sessions set to run for two hours. Participants can join in person, virtually via Zoom or share their input by filling out a Google Forms survey, where responses will be shared with the district. Zoom and Google Forms links will be available within 24 hours of the scheduled community forums on the district’s website (FlintSchools.org).

Following is the schedule for community forums, which will be hosted at Accelerated Learning Academy (1602 S Averill Ave, Flint, MI 48503):

  • Thursday, April 20, 2023, from 4 p.m. – 6 p.m.
  • Thursday, June 8, 2023, from 4 p.m. – 6 p.m.

Each community forum meeting will cover the following topics:

  • District Vision/Strategic Plan
  • District Focus Goals for the 2022-23 School Year
  • Renovations Updates
  • ESSER Updates
  • Questions & Answers

As always, thank you for partnering with Flint Community Schools as we strive to provide scholars with a safe place to learn, grow and play. We look forward to working closely with the community as we chart our future together.

Educationally Yours,

Kevelin Jones, Superintendent
