Good afternoon, parents and guardians,
This is Principal Thomas. I hope you and your family are enjoying your Labor Day holiday. I just want to take a couple of minutes to share three important reminders as we prepare to return to school tomorrow.
First, please remember that students should only bring clear book bags to school. If your child has not received a clear book bag, please contact the main office, and we will be happy to assist you.
Second, all bus riders were sent home with information explaining how to download the bus app. This app allows you to track your child’s bus in real time. We strongly encourage all parents of bus riders to download and set up the app so you can stay informed about your child’s transportation.
Lastly, all students received a Welcome Back letter containing important information about our school schedule and student dress code. Parents, please take a few minutes to review this information with your child. As a reminder, students should not wear sandals or Crocs to school. In addition, Flint Community Schools is a no-hoodie and no-cell-phone district. Hoodies and cell phones are not permitted on school buses or school property.
Parents, thank you for your continued partnership and support as we work together to ensure a safe, positive, and successful school year for all of our Cadets.

The first day of school for Flint Community Schools is August 31st. It is a state requirement for children attending school to be up to date on their required childhood immunizations. If your child is entering 7th grade, or is a new enrollee since January 2026, they will not be able to start classes if the district does not receive up to date documentation of their immunizations status. To assist, Health Services is offering an immunization clinic this week. Please use the QR code on the attached flyer to make an appointment today. You will also have a chance to receive required immunizations during our back to school event happening this Saturday August 29th through Kroger pharmacy, insurance card required. We look forward to seeing you on the first day of school!
